NFL Week 6 Recap & Week 7 Preview | Guest: @mikey_rantz

The Screenplay Podcast — Week 6 Recap

The Screenplay Podcast welcomed golf caddie and comedy content creator Michael Imbriale

(@Mikey_Rantz), a Long Island caddy and lifelong New York Giants fan, for a Week 6 show covering

caddy life and the wide-open NFC East. Hosts Evan Grenus and Andrew Novak then broke down every

marquee Week 6 game, the latest coaching hot seat fallout, updated power rankings, fantasy starts and

sits, betting picks, and a Survivor Pool that’s down to its final few entrants.

Guest Spotlight: Michael Imbriale on Caddy Life and the Giants

Michael Imbriale, who caddies at an undisclosed course on Long Island and posts comedic caddy content

as @Mikey_Rantz, explained that his videos took off after one random clip unexpectedly went viral,

pushing him to lean into golf-course comedy full time. His recurring bit centers on a fictional, hapless

everyman golfer named Johnny (with occasional appearances by his wife, Charlene) who Imbriale said

represents “every single one of us at one point on the golf course” He shared caddy-life stories including

looping at a PGA Championship at Quail Hollow two years ago, where he said the firmness of the greens

that week was unlike anything he’d seen, and debated with the hosts whether it’s more rewarding to

caddy for a skilled player or a happy-go-lucky high-handicapper (both hosts and Imbriale leaned toward

the better player).

On football, Imbriale said he became a Giants fan because of Eli Manning beating Tom Brady twice in the

Super Bowl, and weighed in on New York’s quarterback battle: backup JJ McCarthy nearly stole a game

in relief last week, throwing for roughly 240 yards in the fourth quarter alone, but Imbriale ultimately

leaned toward sticking with Jameis Winston one more week given a difficult road matchup against the

Texans. He called the Giants (3-2-1) the best bet to win a weak NFC East over the Eagles (2-4, with

Jalen Hurts since lost for the season), Cowboys, and Commanders (1-4-1), and weighed in on the hosts

head-coach hot seat rankings — predicting Nick Sirianni survives in Philadelphia despite repeated clock-

management blunders, and calling Lions coach Dan Campbell overrated for a fourth-down decision he

said cost Detroit a trip to the Super Bowl. He also defended Giants running back Cam Skattebo, calling

his benching this week after fumbling issues mishandled by the coaching staff.

NFL Week 6 Recap

49ers 23, Commanders 17 (Monday Night)

San Francisco raced out to a 20-3 halftime lead and held on despite a late Washington rally, continuing

Kyle Shanahan’s history of letting big leads get uncomfortably close. Both hosts credited the 49ers

defense for a strong first three quarters while San Francisco’s receiver room continued to thin out — with

Mike Evans added to the injury list, the offense increasingly leans on Christian McCaffrey and George

Kittle. Washington’s loss was compounded by two costly miscues: a fourth-and-2 throwaway by Jayden

Daniels in the second quarter and a needless fourth-quarter timeout burned while the clock was already

stopped. Both hosts said coach Dan Quinn, already seen as a top name on the coaching hot seat, is

squarely to blame given the back-to-back weeks of mistakes. Washington also lost receiver Terry

McLaurin for the season to a ruptured knee.

Texans 34, Jaguars 31 (London)

Houston kept its season alive with a win over Jacksonville in London, getting playmaking snaps in his

Texans debut from newly acquired receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. (three catches on four targets in just 12

snaps) alongside a strong day from Jaylin Noel (4 catches, 107 yards, a touchdown). CJ Stroud threw his

first interception of the season but both hosts said Houston’s passing game looks revived with a deep

receiver room to rotate through. Both hosts remained high on Jacksonville despite the loss, citing a

complete roster undermined by untimely penalties and mental mistakes.

Packers 23, Cowboys 13 (Sunday Night)

Green Bay rolled past Dallas at Lambeau despite entering as a slight underdog, with Jordan Love

spreading the ball to a dangerous Matthew Golden/Christian Watson receiver duo (21 combined targets)

and the Packers defense holding up against a strong Cowboys offense. Both hosts piled on Dallas coach

Brian Schottenheimer, noting his career coaching record sits at 9-13-1 with wins disproportionately

coming against coaches already on the hot seat or since fired. Running back Josh Jacobs was removed

from the commissioner’s exempt list but his season-long availability remains uncertain.

Other News: Hurts Out for the Season, Colts Fire Their GM

Philadelphia’s Jalen Hurts is done for the year with blood clots in his lung, a situation both hosts said

could even threaten his career depending on how doctors manage it; the Eagles, already selling off

pieces and sitting on the No. 7 overall pick, are expected to ride out the rest of the season with Tanner

McKee at quarterback. Indianapolis fired longtime general manager Chris Ballard after a ten-year tenure

both hosts called underwhelming, pointing to misses like Anthony Richardson and a string of questionable

contracts as reasons ownership finally moved on; both hosts expect head coach Shane Steichen to stick

around at least through this season given the Colts lack of a first-round pick or clear quarterback plan.

Screenplay Podcast Power Rankings — Week 7

1. San Francisco 49ers (6-0) 2. Kansas City Chiefs (5-0) 3. Chicago Bears (4-2) 4. Buffalo Bills (5-1) 5.

Jacksonville Jaguars (4-2) 6. New England Patriots (4-2) 7. Denver Broncos (4-2) 8. Seattle Seahawks

(3-3) 9. Minnesota Vikings (5-0) 10. Green Bay Packers (4-2)

Both hosts called this the toughest week yet to rank five through thirteen. Andrew pushed back on the

Bills sitting ahead of a surging Chicago defense, while agreeing the Jaguars still belong in the top five

despite their London loss. Andrew’s own ballot had the Texans (2-4) creeping toward the top ten after

their win, with the Lions, Rams, and Panthers rounding out his 11-14.

Week 7 Fantasy Football Starts

Colston Loveland (Bears, in a likely breakout spot against a Patriots defense that should force Chicago to

spread the ball around on Thursday night), Woody Marks (Texans, vs. a soft Giants run defense),

basically anyone involved in the Packers-Lions shootout (Detroit has gone over the total in every game

this season), Kendre Miller (Saints, vs. Pittsburgh, trending toward a bigger workload), and Tyler Higbee

(Rams, vs. a Las Vegas defense that ranks 27th against tight ends, in line for a target bump with the

Rams receiver room banged up).

Week 7 Fantasy Football Sits

Keenan Allen and the rest of the Colts pass catchers (vs. a Brian Flores-coached Vikings defense), Cam

Skattebo (uncertain role after being benched, vs. Houston), Tony Pollard (vs. a stout Cleveland run

defense), Michael Wilson and the Cardinals pass catchers broadly (vs. Denver), Tyler Shough (vs. a

Steelers defense that ranks third in fantasy points allowed to quarterbacks), Sam LaPorta (vs. a Green

Bay defense allowing just four fantasy points per game to tight ends), and Xavier Worthy (Kansas City, in

a game both hosts expect the Chiefs to lean on the run against Seattle).

Week 7 NFL Betting Picks

Evan went 2-0-1 last week (Patriots push, Browns hit, Cardinals hit) and is now 9-7-2 on the season;

Andrew went 1-2 (Jaguars miss, Steelers hit, Bills miss) and is now 8-10.

Andrew’s picks: Patriots +3 vs. Bears (Thursday); Jets −4.5 vs. Dolphins; 49ers −3 at Falcons.

Evan’s picks: Bengals +2.5 vs. Ravens; Saints +3 at Steelers (Paris); Chiefs +2.5 at Seahawks (Sunday

Night).

Screenplay Podcast Survivor Pool Update

The pool has gone from 200 original entrants to just three remaining heading into Week 7 after a brutal

Week 6 — 44% of the field took the Rams and 33% took the Colts, both of which got knocked out. The

three survivors came via the Bills, Patriots, and Steelers, each pick made by just one remaining entrant

apiece. With a champion crowned in Week 14 last season, both hosts expect this year’s three-way finish

to wrap up within a week or two.
